Practice the Funding Pips 2 Step Flex challenge

Both phases of the Funding Pips (FundingPips) 2 Step Flex are built in. It pairs a wide 12% max loss with a tight daily loss of $400 on a 10K account, which makes it behave differently from the more common pairing of a smaller max loss with a larger daily one. Everything here runs on the free plan.

Funding Pips drawdown: a wide max loss and a tight daily loss

The max drawdown is static and generous. On a 10K account the floor sits at $8,800, $1,200 below your starting balance, and it never moves.

The daily loss is the tight one: $400 on a 10K account, measured down from where you stood at the previous day's close and resetting at midnight Central European time. Three full losing days in a row and the max loss is gone.

Phase 1 is passed at $11,000, with at least 1 trading day on the record. Phase 2 keeps both loss limits and lowers the target.

What this combination does to your trading

With this shape the account rarely dies in a single day. What happens instead is that a bad day ends early on the daily limit, and the damage shows up as a run of them. The question to answer in practice is what you do on the day after a stopped day, because that is where this challenge is decided.

The simulator treats the daily loss as a hard stop: touch it and the attempt is over, exactly as the firm would end it.

Funding Pips sells several other models, among them Zero, a 1 Step and two other 2 Step versions, with different numbers. Only the 2 Step Flex is built in. If you bought another model, type its rules in as your own.

Risk check: at 0.5% a trade ($50) on a 10K Funding Pips P1, 24 full losses in a row reach the $1,200 max loss, 8 in one day reach the $400 daily loss limit, and 10 winners at 2R reach the $1,000 target. Plain arithmetic from a fresh account. On the page you can change the account size and the risk.

What the simulator covers

  • Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the 2 Step Flex, for every account size from 5K to 100K
  • A static max loss, checked against live equity at every replay step
  • The daily loss measured from the previous day's close and resetting at midnight Central European time
  • The minimum of 1 trading day in each phase

What it does not cover

  • News trading restrictions and weekend holding rules are not enforced
  • Only the 2 Step Flex is built in. Zero, 1 Step and the other 2 Step models are not
  • Moving from Phase 1 to Phase 2 is not automatic. They are two rule sets, and you start the second one yourself
  • The funded stage and payouts, including any payout consistency rule, are not simulated

Funding Pips practice questions

Is there a free way to practice the Funding Pips challenge?

Yes. Prop firm mode is free on every BacktestingMax plan, and forex and metals, gold included, are free instruments. The free plan covers the last 12 months of history. BacktestingMax is an independent simulator and is not connected to Funding Pips.

What are the 2 Step Flex loss limits?

In the rules we carry, a static max loss of 12% and a daily loss of 4% of the starting balance, in both phases. The table above shows the dollar amounts for each account size.

Can I practice the other Funding Pips models?

They are not built in. You can still practice them: choose your own rules in prop firm mode and type in the target, the loss limits and the max loss type your model uses.

How is the daily loss calculated in the simulator?

It is measured down from your position at the previous day's close, open trades included, and it resets at midnight Central European time, not at your local midnight.

Are these the current Funding Pips rules?

They were checked against Funding Pips' own published trading objectives on the date shown above the tables. Confirm the numbers with Funding Pips before you buy a challenge.

Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown.
