How the FundedNext Stellar drawdown limits work
FundedNext has two drawdown rules in the Stellar 2-Step, an overall max loss and a daily loss, and both are static. On a 10K account the max loss floor sits at $9,000 from the first trade to the last, and your equity, open trades included, must never touch it.
The daily loss is $500 on a 10K account. It is measured down from where you stood at the previous day's close and it resets at midnight Central European time, so a position that is under water at the rollover starts the new day already behind.
Phase 1 is passed at $10,800, once you have 5 trading days on the record. Phase 2 repeats the same loss limits with a smaller target.
Five trading days changes how you trade it
A minimum of 5 trading days in each phase means there is no fast pass. Reach the target on day two and you still owe three more days, and every one of them is a chance to give some back. The simulator shows the target as met and counts down the days you still owe.
That makes the second half of a phase a different skill from the first: protecting a result instead of chasing one. It is worth rehearsing on its own, and replay lets you do that in one sitting.
FundedNext sells other models too, a 1-Step and a Lite challenge among them, with different numbers. They are not built in. If you bought one of those, type its rules in as your own instead of using this rule set.
Risk check: at 0.5% a trade ($50) on a 10K FundedNext P1, 20 full losses in a row reach the $1,000 max loss, 10 in one day reach the $500 daily loss limit, and 8 winners at 2R reach the $800 target. Plain arithmetic from a fresh account. On the page you can change the account size and the risk.
What the simulator covers
- Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Stellar 2-Step, for every account size from 5K to 200K
- A static max loss, checked against live equity at every replay step
- The daily loss measured from the previous day's close and resetting at midnight Central European time
- The minimum of 5 trading days in each phase
What it does not cover
- FundedNext's help centre states the loss limits and the 5-day minimum. It does not state the profit targets. The ones used here come from third-party listings, so confirm them in your dashboard
- News trading restrictions and weekend holding rules are not enforced
- Moving from Phase 1 to Phase 2 is not automatic. They are two rule sets, and you start the second one yourself
- The funded stage, payouts and the profit split are not simulated
FundedNext practice questions
Is there a free way to practice the FundedNext challenge?
Yes. Prop firm mode is free on every BacktestingMax plan, and forex and metals, gold included, are free instruments. The free plan covers the last 12 months of history. BacktestingMax is an independent simulator and is not connected to FundedNext.
How many trading days does the Stellar 2-Step need?
At least 5 in each phase, in the rules we carry. If you reach the target sooner, the simulator does not pass you early. It shows the target as met and tells you how many trading days are still owed.
How is the daily loss calculated in the simulator?
It is 5% of your starting balance, measured down from your position at the previous day's close, open trades included, and it resets at midnight Central European time. A trade held across that rollover is counted in the right day.
Can I practice FundedNext's 1-Step or futures challenges?
They are not built in. You can still practice them: choose your own rules in prop firm mode and type in the target, the loss limits, the minimum days and the max loss type that your challenge uses.
Are these the current FundedNext rules?
They were checked on the date shown above the tables, and some figures are not published by FundedNext itself. Confirm the numbers in your FundedNext dashboard before you rely on them.

- How the simulator works
BacktestingMax is an independent trading simulator. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by FundedNext. The name is used only to describe which published rules a practice session follows, and it belongs to its owner.
Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown.
