Can I backtest for free?
Yes. BacktestingMax has a free plan with no time limit: forex and metals such as gold, the most recent 12 months of 1-minute history (you can earn up to 36), unlimited sessions, prop firm challenge mode and daily AI Chat credits. No credit card.
What is backtesting?
Backtesting is testing a trading strategy on past market data to see how it would have performed before you risk real money. You replay the history, take the trades your rules call for, and measure the result: profit, win rate, drawdown and every single trade.
How do I backtest a trading strategy?
Write the rules down first: when you enter, where the stop goes and where you take profit. Pick a market and a past date, replay the chart bar by bar and take every trade the rules give you, including the ones you don't like. After 50 to 100 trades, read the stats. You can also describe the rules to the AI and it tests them for you.
Can ChatGPT backtest a trading strategy?
ChatGPT can explain a strategy or write code for one, but it has no market history of its own to test it on. How much historical data is there?
1-minute data on every market we carry. The main forex pairs and gold go back to 2003, and futures, crypto and stocks start between 2004 and 2020 depending on the market. The free plan covers the most recent 12 months.
