Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how BacktestingMax (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website (https://backtestingmax.com) and our web application (https://app.backtestingmax.com), together the “Service”.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the name and basic profile information Google provides. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication.

Backtesting and trading data. We store the backtesting sessions, simulated trades, trade journal entries, performance analytics, challenge results, and any images or notes you upload, so you can return to them later.

Subscription and payment information. When you purchase a paid plan, payment is processed by our payment provider (Paddle; Stripe for some legacy subscribers). We receive your subscription status, plan, and billing identifiers, but we do not store your full card details — those are handled by the payment provider.

Usage and device data. Like most websites, we automatically collect standard analytics data (pages visited, approximate location, browser and device type, and similar) through Google Analytics. This may include your IP address and is collected via cookies.

Communications. If you email us or submit a form, we keep that correspondence. If you opt in to our newsletter, we record that consent.

How we use your information

We use your information to provide and operate the Service; save and display your backtesting sessions and trade journal; process payments and manage subscriptions; send you a one-time welcome email and, if you opt in, our newsletter and product or promotional updates; respond to support requests; understand how the Service is used so we can improve it; and protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.

Email and newsletters

When you create an account you may receive a one-time welcome email.

You can opt in to our newsletter and promotional emails from your account settings. When you opt in, your email address, name or username, and an internal account identifier are added to our mailing list so we can send you periodic updates.

You can unsubscribe at any time by turning the newsletter setting off in your account, or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email we send. Unsubscribes and bounces are honored automatically, and you will not receive further marketing emails. We may still send essential service messages, such as account or billing notices.

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes. Essential cookies keep you signed in and operate the Service securely (set by Firebase Authentication); the Service will not work properly without them. Analytics cookies from Google Analytics help us understand how the Service is used.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. For more information about how Google uses data, see Google's Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Third-party services we share data with

We share data only with the service providers needed to run the Service:

  • Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) — stores your account, sessions, journal, and uploaded content.
  • Google Analytics — website and app usage analytics.
  • Paddle — payment processing and subscription management (current provider, acting as Merchant of Record).
  • Stripe — payment processing for some legacy subscribers only.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — writes AI Chat replies, using your messages and the data a request needs.
  • Google Gemini — sorts AI Chat requests and searches our help articles for them.

If you connect an AI app like ChatGPT or Claude to your account, that app can read your BacktestingMax data and handles it under its own terms. You can disconnect it at any time in your account settings.

We do not sell your personal information.

Anonymized and aggregated data

We may share or display backtesting session data, strategies, and results in an anonymized or aggregated form — for example in public strategies, battles, leaderboards, or product statistics. This data does not identify you personally.

How long we retain your data

We retain your account data and backtesting sessions for as long as your account is active, or until you delete them. You can delete individual sessions at any time, or delete your entire account from your account settings at any time. We may retain limited information where required for legal, tax, accounting, or security purposes.

What rights you have over your data

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to withdraw consent for marketing at any time. You can manage your newsletter consent, delete individual sessions, and delete your entire account directly in the app from your account settings. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription and permanently removes your account, saved sessions, trade journal, uploaded images, AI chats, and associated personal data. Data security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections and reputable infrastructure providers such as Google Firebase. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to it.

International data transfers

Our service providers (Google, Anthropic, Paddle, Stripe) may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Children

The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
