Prop Firm Simulator / Alpha Futures
Futures evaluation, your own rules
Practice an Alpha Futures evaluation before you buy one
BacktestingMax has no built-in Alpha Futures rule set, so you set it up yourself, which takes about a minute. Below are the Zero and Advanced evaluation rules as Alpha Futures publishes them, exactly what to type, and how closely the simulator can follow them.

Set up Alpha Advanced in BacktestingMax
Set it up in BacktestingMax
Start from Earn2Trade. It is the built-in rule set that behaves most like an Alpha Futures evaluation: an end-of-day floor that stops moving at the starting balance, a trading day that rolls at 5:00 PM New York time, and a best day measured against total profit. Pick it, then overwrite its numbers with the ones below. The label changes to "Your own rules".
- Open a new session in prop firm challenge mode. The button on this page does that, and you land on the instrument step.
- Pick your instrument and dates. On step 4, "Set your challenge rules", you will see the rule fields.
- Open "Fill them from a real firm", choose the Futures tab and pick Earn2Trade. Then type over its numbers with the values listed here for your evaluation.
- Open "More rules" to set the max loss type and the best-day cap.
- Start the session and trade. The pass or fail, the retry on new dates and the saved result work exactly as they do for a built-in firm.
Alpha Zero, $50,000 account
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Starting balance | $50,000 |
| Profit target | 6% ($3,000) |
| Max loss | 4% ($2,000) |
| Daily loss | Set to none. The firm only pauses the day at $1,000 |
| Min trading days | 0 |
| Max loss type | Trailing (end of day) |
| Best-day cap | 0 (none) |
Alpha Advanced, $50,000 account
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Starting balance | $50,000 |
| Profit target | 8% ($4,000) |
| Max loss | 3.5% ($1,750) |
| Daily loss | Set to none |
| Min trading days | 0 |
| Max loss type | Trailing (end of day) |
| Best-day cap | 40% |
For the Zero evaluation set the best-day cap to 0, because Zero has no consistency rule. For another account size, take the percentages from the table above.
Alpha Futures drawdown: end of day on every account, and it stops at your starting balance
Alpha Futures uses an end-of-day trailing Maximum Loss Limit on all of its accounts, and says so plainly: none of them use an intraday trailing drawdown. On a 50K Zero evaluation the floor opens at $48,000, $2,000 below your $50,000 starting balance, and it is recalculated from your balance high at the end of each trading day.
It stops trailing at your starting balance. Once your end-of-day balance has risen by the size of the max loss, the floor sits at $50,000 and stays there for the life of the account.
Breaking the limit at any point, on floating equity or on closed balance, ends the evaluation. Alpha Futures describes that as the only way to fail one. The Zero evaluation is passed at $53,000.
Zero or Advanced: a daily guard or a best-day rule
Zero has no consistency rule, so it can be passed in one day. It has a Daily Loss Guard instead, $1,000 on a 50K account. Alpha Futures treats it as a soft breach: your positions are flattened and the account is locked until the next trading day, and you do not lose the account.
Advanced has no Daily Loss Guard and a best-day rule in its place: profit from one trading day may not be more than 40% of your net profit, and you do not pass until that is satisfied. Its profit target and max loss are different from Zero as well. The second table above has them.
So the two evaluations test opposite habits. Zero lets you be aggressive on a day and stops you when the day goes wrong. Advanced lets a bad day run and refuses to let one good day carry you. Practice the one you intend to buy.
Risk check: at 0.5% a trade ($250) on a 50K Alpha Zero, 8 full losses in a row reach the $2,000 max loss, and 6 winners at 2R reach the $3,000 target. Plain arithmetic from a fresh account. On the page you can change the account size and the risk.
What the simulator can follow
- The profit target and the end-of-day trailing max loss, checked against live equity at every replay step
- A floor that stops moving at your starting balance, when you start from the Earn2Trade rule set as described above
- A trading day that rolls at 5:00 PM New York time, on the same condition
- A best-day warning measured against total profit, for the Advanced evaluation
What it does not cover
- There is no built-in Alpha Futures rule set. You type the numbers in, so a typing mistake is yours to catch
- The Daily Loss Guard only locks the day at Alpha Futures. The simulator has no pause-only limit: leave the daily loss set to none, or enter it as a hard limit if you want stricter practice
- The best-day rule warns you. At Alpha Futures you do not pass Advanced until it is met. In the simulator a run that reaches the target still shows as passed, with the warning attached
- Position limits, news restrictions on qualified accounts and the qualified stage itself are not simulated
Alpha Futures practice questions
Does BacktestingMax have an Alpha Futures preset?
No. Alpha Futures is not one of the built-in rule sets. You practice it by typing its rules in as your own, using the numbers on this page. Everything the simulator does for a built-in firm works the same way with your own rules.
Is the Alpha Futures drawdown intraday or end of day?
End of day, on every account. Alpha Futures states that none of its accounts use an intraday trailing drawdown. The limit is recalculated from your balance high at the end of each trading day, and it stops trailing once it reaches your starting balance.
Does the Daily Loss Guard fail the evaluation?
No. Alpha Futures calls it a soft breach: positions are flattened and the account is locked until the next trading day. Only the Zero evaluation has one. The simulator has no pause-only limit, so leave the daily loss set to none, or enter it as a hard limit for stricter practice.
Can I pass an Alpha Futures evaluation in one day?
Zero, yes: it has no consistency rule in the evaluation. Advanced, no: one day may not be more than 40% of your net profit, so the target cannot be reached in a single day.
Is there a free way to practice an Alpha Futures evaluation?
Prop firm mode, including your own rules, is free on every BacktestingMax plan. Futures data such as ES, NQ, CL and GC is part of Premium, so on the free plan you run the same rules on gold or forex. BacktestingMax is an independent simulator and is not connected to Alpha Futures.
Are these the current Alpha Futures rules?
They were read on the Alpha Futures help centre on the date shown above the tables. Confirm the numbers with Alpha Futures before you buy an evaluation.

BacktestingMax is an independent trading simulator. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Alpha Futures. The name is used only to describe which published rules a practice session follows, and it belongs to its owner.
Hypothetical or simulated performance results have certain limitations. Unlike an actual performance record, simulated results do not represent actual trading. Also, since the trades have not been executed, the results may have under- or over-compensated for the impact, if any, of certain market factors, such as lack of liquidity. Simulated trading programs in general are also subject to the fact that they are designed with the benefit of hindsight. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profit or losses similar to those shown.
