Step 1
Pick a market and a date. The future stays hidden.
Choose a pair, a date range and a starting balance. The chart opens on the bars before your start date, so you have context, and nothing after it shows until you press Play.

Step 2
Let it play, or go one bar at a time.
Press Space to play and stop. Step forward one bar, or five at once, when you want to read a move slowly, and set the speed anywhere from a crawl to fast-forward. The replay only moves forward, like a live market, so there is no peeking at the next candle.

Step 3
Trade it as it happens.
Press T to open a trade. Go long or short at market or with a limit order, set a stop loss and one or more take profits, and let the lot size follow the risk you choose. Orders fill when the replay reaches their price.

Step 4
Then see what you would have made.
Save the session and every trade stays on record: your equity curve, your stats and a score out of 10 for each trade, with tips. Replay any trade again from entry to exit, or continue the session another day.

Is the bar replay really free?
Yes. The free plan replays forex pairs and metals bar by bar over the most recent 12 months of history, with unlimited sessions and no credit card. You can earn up to 36 months. Premium adds every other market, unlimited history and intrabar replay. Compare the plans
Can I replay the 1-minute chart?
Yes. The data underneath is 1-minute bars, so you can replay any timeframe from 1 minute up to daily, or type your own, such as 3 or 10 minutes. On Premium, intrabar mode also replays the 1-minute bars inside each larger candle, so you see how it formed.
Which markets can I replay?
Forex pairs and metals, such as gold, on the free plan. Premium adds crypto, stocks, indices, futures, commodities, ETFs and bonds.
Can I go back a few bars?
No. Like a live market, the replay only moves forward, so a trade can't be undone by rewinding. To study a move, slow the replay down or step one bar at a time. Saved sessions can be watched again from their review page.
Is this TradingView's bar replay?
No. BacktestingMax is a separate app and is not affiliated with TradingView. Its charts are built with TradingView's Lightweight Charts library, so they will look familiar.
Do I need to download anything?
No. BacktestingMax runs in your browser. Sign up, pick a pair and a date, and press Play.
Can I practice a prop firm challenge with the replay?
